Stegosaurus – a herbivorous dinosaur from the Late Jurassic, living about 155–150 million years ago. It was characterised by a double row of large, triangular plates on its back and a spiked tail, which it used to defend itself against predators. Adults reached up to 9 metres in length and weighed several tonnes. Fun fact: its brain was relatively small compared to its body, but the plates on its back may have been used for thermoregulation and display.
