In 1911, when it majestically rolled down the ramp, the press worldwide hailed it as the largest and most magnificent passenger ship and gave it an ‘unsinkable’ reputation. It was supposed to be unsinkable, but, unfortunately, its story ended in tragedy. The Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912, with over 2,000 people on board. A route was chosen that risked collision with icebergs, but it was believed that such a modern ship could easily navigate these dangers. However, a day away from arriving in New York, on April 14 at 11:40 p.m., the ship collided with an iceberg. The Titanic sank over 2.5 hours.
