Apollo 13 was the third crewed NASA mission intended to land on the Moon, launched on 11 April 1970. Two days after launch, during a routine operation to stir the oxygen tanks in the service module, an oxygen tank exploded. The malfunction caused significant damage, resulting in the loss of oxygen and power. It was then that James Lovell uttered the famous words: “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” The mission’s goal then became the safe return of the crew. On 17 April 1970, Apollo 13 safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean.
